The Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM), led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, has appointed Pauline Njoroge as its interim head of communications as it intensifies preparations for the 2027 General Election.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, October 13, the movement named the former Jubilee Party organising secretary to lead its communications team as it restructures its leadership and advances its presidential campaign plans.

The appointments followed a leadership meeting held on Monday, October 12, during which members reviewed the movement’s rebranding process and the establishment of its presidential campaign secretariat.

"The Linda Mwananchi leadership met yesterday to review progress on the party's rebranding process, as well as the ongoing structuring of the party and the Presidential Campaign Secretariat," the notice read in part.

According to the movement, Njoroge will serve in the position on an interim basis, drawing on her experience in political and strategic communication.

Her previous engagements include working on presidential campaigns and serving on the campaign team of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during his 2025 African Union Commission chairperson bid.

"Pauline brings a wealth of experience in political and strategic communication, having previously worked on presidential campaigns and with various governmental institutions and intergovernmental organisations," the notice added.

Njoroge announced her departure from the Jubilee Party in July 2026 after serving in the party for 14 years, signalling her support for Sifuna’s presidential ambitions and the Linda Mwananchi Movement.

"I wish to announce my resignation from the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Jubilee Party, where I have served as Deputy Organising Secretary, and as a member of the Jubilee Party, effective today", Njoroge said on July 21.

The movement also announced changes to its digital, media and publicity team as part of efforts to strengthen its communication strategy ahead of the next election.

In the notice, LMM appointed Fredah Onduso, Abigail Gikonyo and Charity Waweru to the team. The three have been active in promoting Sifuna’s presidential bid on social media, and their formal appointments are expected to strengthen the movement’s digital outreach and publicity efforts.

LMM further indicated that additional appointments to the campaign secretariat would be announced in due course as it builds its team ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

The latest changes come as the movement seeks to consolidate its political support following a series of rallies that attracted attention in recent months. However, LMM temporarily suspended its campaigns and public rallies amid reports of internal disagreements and wrangling within the movement.

Sifuna, who was previously announced as the movement’s leader and presidential candidate, subsequently unveiled the Equitable Party (TEP) as his political vehicle.

The latest appointments signal a renewed effort to organise the movement’s communications and campaign structures as the race towards the 2027 General Election gathers momentum.
