The CA attributes the growth to increased competition among operators, the expansion of digital services and continued infrastructure roll-outs across the country.

The market also recorded strong year-on-year growth, with fixed internet subscriptions increasing by 32.4% from 2.14 million in June 2025 to 2.84 million in June 2026.

Growth was recorded across terrestrial wireless, satellite, fibre optic and cable modem technologies, highlighting the broadening range of connectivity options available to consumers and businesses.

Fibre optic remained the leading fixed internet technology, with 1.57 million subscriptions, while terrestrial wireless accounted for 1.03 million. Fibre subscriptions grew by 29.7% year-on-year, terrestrial wireless by 42.9% and satellite by 54.4%, pointing to continued expansion across Kenya’s broadband ecosystem.

Safaricom PLC accounted for 1,024,950 fixed data subscriptions, equivalent to 36.1% of the market, highlighting its significant contribution to Kenya’s expanding broadband ecosystem.

This reflects the scale of its broadband offering and its continued contribution to expanding access to high-quality connectivity across Kenya.

The growth in subscriptions was accompanied by higher bandwidth utilisation. Total utilised international bandwidth rose from 18,678.824 Gbps in the previous quarter to 19,432.074 Gbps, representing a 4.0% quarterly increase and 23.9% annual growth. The increase points to sustained growth in internet usage and data consumption, alongside continued expansion of Kenya’s digital infrastructure.

These statistics highlight a steadily expanding fixed broadband market, characterised by rising adoption and increased use of internet capacity.

Safaricom’s market leadership in fixed data services demonstrates its contribution to enhancing broadband availability and supporting Kenya’s growing digital ecosystem.
