Geoffrey Mosiria has broken his silence after being removed from his Nairobi County government position, accusing Governor Johnson Sakaja of sidelining him for nearly three years and sensationally alleging that a fresh court case could be used to have him jailed.
In a statement titled “THANKS MY BOSS GOVERNOR SAKAJA!” released on Wednesday, October 21 via his Facebook page, Mosiria claimed his working relationship with the governor deteriorated in December 2023, when he alleged that his responsibilities as an accounting officer were taken away.
“Thank you, my boss, for making my sacking official,” Mosiria wrote, suggesting that the just-reportrf events merely formalised what he considers a dismissal that began years earlier.
The latest development follows a Nairobi County administrative reshuffle that removed Mosiria from the public participation, citizen engagement and customer service docket. County Secretary Machel Waikenda announced that Zipporah Njeri Mwangi would assume the responsibilities in an acting capacity while retaining her City Culture, Arts and Tourism portfolio. The changes took effect immediately, although the official notice did not state why Mosiria was removed.

Mosiria Claims Sakaja Stripped Him of Powers
According to Mosiria, the fallout began on December 28, 2023, during a meeting at Sakaja’s private office in Riverside, Nairobi. He alleged that the governor transferred his constitutionally assigned accounting responsibilities to junior officers through what he described as an unprocedural memo.
Mosiria further claimed that the budget allocated to the health docket was slashed from Ksh1.2 billion to Ksh100 million, leaving him without adequate resources to perform his duties. He attributed the alleged budget reduction to his refusal to participate in direct procurement arrangements that he claims would have favoured people close to the governor and county contractors.
Mosiria also referred to a WhatsApp conference call involving Sakaja and the governor’s chief of staff, Osman Khalifa, which he claimed provided evidence of the dispute. Vantage Ke could not independently establish Mosiria's allegations, and the governor’s response to the claims was not included in Mosiria’s statement. Mosiria on his part did not provide evidence to support his claims as per his statement.
From Health to Environment, Then Customer Service
Mosiria further alleged that he was subsequently transferred to the Environment docket, where he claimed his director reported directly to Sakaja, leaving him sidelined. Rather than remain inactive in his office, he said he continued conducting street operations to address issues affecting Nairobi residents.
He also recounted enduring public criticism, attacks in official WhatsApp groups and a court case that he claimed nearly resulted in a six-month jail term over alleged contempt of court.
Mosiria further described his subsequent transfer to public participation, citizen engagement and customer service as another setback in his efforts to serve Nairobi residents.
Despite the difficulties, he said he remained in government because he wanted an opportunity to deliver services and rebuild trust with the governor.
Mosiria Turns to 2027 Nairobi Governor Race
The dismissal comes days after Mosiria publicly declared his intention to contest the Nairobi governorship in the 2027 General Election, setting up a potential political confrontation with Sakaja. On October 11, Mosiria announced his ambition during a church service at Jesus Is Alive Ministries (JIAM), where he presented his experience in the county administration as a foundation for seeking the county’s top seat.
He has highlighted his work in health, environment and citizen engagement as part of his pitch to voters, branding himself as a candidate who can address Nairobi’s persistent service-delivery challenges.
In his latest statement, Mosiria expressed that his political ambitions were driven by a desire to improve the city rather than engage in personal battles. “My desire has never been to fight anyone; it has always been to fix the systems and serve the people of Nairobi,” he continued.
Mosiria Raises Alarm Over Possible Court Case
The former chief officer also alleged that he had received information suggesting preparations were underway for a court case intended to have him jailed.
“Lastly I have information that you are preparing a court case to fix and jail me,” he wrote, without identifying the alleged case or providing supporting details in the statement.
He concluded by challenging Nairobi residents to judge the dispute for themselves, saying he hoped Kenyans would know “who belongs to jail and who should serve them.”
Neither the alleged plan to prosecute him nor the claims of procurement pressure have been independently verified. The latest county notice had confirmed the reassignment of responsibilities but did not provide a reason for Mosiria’s removal.
The dispute now places the former chief officer’s allegations, his departure from City Hall and his declared 2027 gubernatorial ambitions at the centre of a developing political story in Nairobi.
