A popular TikToker has been remanded in custody after a Nairobi court revoked his bond for failing to attend a hearing scheduled for October 1 in a Ksh500,000 extortion case.
The content creator was arrested in Nakuru and transferred to Nairobi on the morning of Friday, October 9. He was presented before a court on Monday, where his lawyer sought the reinstatement of his bail.
His advocate told the court that the TikToker had missed the previous court session due to illness and urged the magistrate to allow him to remain out of custody as the case proceeded.

However, the court was not presented with medical records to substantiate the claim that the accused had been unwell, prompting the magistrate to revoke his bond.
The TikToker was ordered to remain in custody until October 26, when the court is expected to hear his application for bail. An arrest warrant had initially been issued on August 22 after he failed to appear for a court hearing.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged extortion stemmed from a video the TikToker published on his account, claiming that Ksh1.6 billion had been stolen from a bank account.
The prosecution alleges that he demanded money from the bank in exchange for removing the video and refraining from publishing further content about the institution.
The alleged offence took place between July 20 and July 27, 2025.
The case also attracted attention after State Counsel Rama Mwanaidi raised concerns over the accused's alleged discussion of the court proceedings on social media. She asked the court to prohibit him from making public comments about the matter.
The court subsequently issued a gag order barring the TikToker from discussing or publishing information related to the case on social media or other platforms.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man was recently arraigned before the Garissa Law Court over allegations of ethnic contempt and cyber harassment following remarks he allegedly made in a viral TikTok video.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the case followed an assessment of the video, which detectives claimed contained remarks that warranted prosecution on allegations of incitement and online harassment.
