Chicken burgers accounted for more than eight in every 10 burger orders placed through Glovo in Nairobi during the first half of 2026, highlighting a strong preference for chicken over beef among the platform’s customers.
According to new ordering data released by Glovo Kenya ahead of Nairobi Burger Week 2026, chicken burgers made up 83.15 per cent of burger orders between January and June.
Beef burgers accounted for 15.36 per cent, while veggie and paneer options combined represented just 1.50 per cent of orders.
The figures offer a snapshot of Nairobi’s burger preferences, with chicken emerging as the overwhelming favourite on the food delivery platform.

Friday at 8 pm is peak burger time
The data also reveals when Nairobians are most likely to order a burger. Friday at 8:00 pm is the busiest burger-ordering hour, suggesting that burgers are closely tied to the end of the working week and evening socialising.
Glovo said the peak period reflects a range of occasions, including dinner with friends, takeaway meals after work, movie nights and late-evening indulgence.
“What is interesting about this data is that it gives us a window into everyday Nairobi life. We can see the importance of value, but we can also see consumers becoming more adventurous and willing to try something new,” said Caroline Mutuku, County Managing Director, Glovo Kenya.
“Even the Friday 8 pm peak tells a story of how food delivery is increasingly connected to the moments when people are relaxing, socialising or treating themselves at the end of the week.”
Nairobians are chasing the deal
Beyond the type of burger being ordered, the data points to price and value as major factors influencing consumer choices.
Galito’s Juicy Value Burgers Deal, which included a Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer, was the most-ordered burger product on Glovo during the first half of 2026.
The finding suggests that discounts and larger-value combinations remain a major draw for consumers ordering food online.
Established fast-food chains continued to dominate burger deliveries, with KFC, Chicken Inn and Galito’s accounting for much of the demand. However, Glovo also identified growing interest in more specialised burger offerings, with emerging gourmet brands such as Drip Burgers gaining ground.
Nairobians are also willing to experiment
One of the clearest examples came in May, when Chicken Inn’s Donut Chicken Burger became the most-ordered individual burger on Glovo. The product swapped the traditional burger bun for a doughnut, giving consumers a more unconventional take on the familiar meal.
The performance of the product suggests that while familiar fast-food favourites remain dominant, unusual products can attract significant demand when they offer consumers something distinctive.
The findings also show a geographic concentration of burger demand, with Kilimani and Westlands emerging as the leading burger-ordering neighbourhoods. Both areas combine large office populations with restaurants, residential developments and active evening entertainment scenes.
However, the figures represent Glovo ordering behaviour, rather than a survey of all Nairobi residents.
The data was released as Glovo partners with Eat Out Kenya for Nairobi Burger Week 2026, an event bringing together restaurants and burger brands across the city.
