Safaricom has released a new version of its My One App for Android and iOS users, introducing a series of updates aimed at making it easier for customers to manage mobile, home internet and payment services from a single platform.

The latest release does not introduce entirely new products. Instead, it expands the app's self-service capabilities by bringing together more customer services and simplifying access to features that previously required multiple steps or separate channels.

One of the most noticeable changes is a redesigned mini-apps section. According to Safaricom, the new layout is intended to make navigation more straightforward, allowing customers to find commonly used services with fewer taps.

The update is expected to make it easier for users to access services such as airtime purchases, data bundles, account management and other features available through the app.

Home Fibre customers are also among those set to benefit from the latest release. The updated My One App now allows subscribers to manage Secure Internet for their Home Fibre connection directly from the application. The feature enables customers to access and adjust internet security settings without having to use a separate platform, giving households more control over their broadband service from a single interface.

For customers planning to travel outside Kenya, the app now includes the option to activate international roaming and purchase roaming bundles directly from the application.

The addition means users can prepare their mobile line for use abroad without relying on USSD codes or contacting customer support. Travellers can also purchase roaming bundles through the app, making it easier to stay connected while outside the country.

Another change comes in the payment section, with eligible customers now presented with multiple payment options on one screen, allowing them to choose between M-Pesa, Bonga Points and ShirikiPay when completing transactions.

Previously, some payment methods required users to navigate through different menus before completing a purchase. Consolidating the options into a single screen is expected to reduce the number of steps involved during checkout.

Safaricom has further streamlined the process of setting up Ratiba standing orders. Ratiba enables customers to automate recurring payments for selected services instead of making manual payments every time they fall due. The latest update simplifies the setup process, allowing users to create standing orders more quickly through the app.

Taken together, the changes reflect Safaricom's continued focus on expanding digital self-service for its customers.

Rather than introducing additional products, the update focuses on improving how subscribers access existing services by reducing the time and effort required to complete routine tasks.

The move also comes as telecommunications companies increasingly invest in mobile applications as the primary channel for customer support and account management. With more Kenyans relying on smartphones to manage payments, internet subscriptions and mobile services, self-service apps have become an increasingly important part of the customer experience.

For users, the latest update means more services can now be managed from one application, whether it is purchasing roaming bundles before travelling, adjusting Home Fibre security settings, selecting a preferred payment method or automating recurring payments.

The updated My One App is available for download on both Android and iOS devices, with existing users able to access the new features after installing the latest version from their device's app store.
