More than 1,000 entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders are expected to converge in Nairobi this September as Kenyan businesses increasingly look beyond traditional growth strategies and turn to partnerships, referrals and innovation to survive a challenging economic environment.

The business leaders will gather at the Waterfront Karen on September 11 for the BNI Nairobi South Business & Innovation Expo 2026, an event organisers say will position Nairobi at the centre of regional conversations on entrepreneurship, investment and business collaboration.

Bringing together players from sectors including technology, finance, manufacturing, real estate, professional services and trade, the expo aims to connect businesses with investors, clients and strategic partners capable of unlocking new growth opportunities.

"Business growth today is increasingly driven by referrals, collaboration and strategic partnerships. The BNI Nairobi South Business & Innovation Expo is designed to create an environment where decision-makers can meet, exchange ideas, learn, discover opportunities and build relationships that generate real business value, both nationally and regionally," said Perminus Kariuki, Executive Director of BNI Nairobi South.

The event comes at a time when many Kenyan businesses are grappling with high operating costs, reduced consumer spending and tighter access to capital, forcing firms to seek new ways of expanding their markets and increasing revenues.

More than 40 exhibitors are expected to showcase products, services and innovations across key sectors of the economy, while attendees will participate in keynote addresses, expert panel discussions, live product demonstrations and exclusive business matchmaking sessions.

A major highlight of the expo will be a panel discussion exploring how businesses can convert professional relationships into revenue-generating opportunities through referrals, innovation and leadership.

"The aim of this expo is to deliver real business outcomes; hence this year's theme being centred around leveraging referrals for business acceleration, innovation for navigating emerging market trends and leadership to foster trust," said Antony Njenga, Executive Director of BNI Nairobi South.

According to BNI Global, its members generated more than USD21.3 billion (about Ksh2.7 trillion) in business revenue through referrals in 2024, underscoring the growing role of trust-based networking in driving business growth across the world.

Organisers say the Nairobi event is expected to attract business owners, startup founders, SME operators, corporate executives, consultants, financial institutions and investors seeking partnerships and investment opportunities.

Beyond networking, the expo will feature innovation showcases, product launches and discussions on emerging market trends as businesses adapt to rapid technological changes and shifting economic conditions.

With Kenya positioning itself as East Africa's leading innovation and investment destination, organisers believe the expo will help strengthen Nairobi's reputation as a regional hub for entrepreneurship while creating opportunities for businesses to forge partnerships that translate into measurable economic growth.
