Millions of Safaricom customers are set to benefit from cheaper mobile data and lower M-PESA transaction costs after the telecommunications giant unveiled sweeping changes to its products aimed at giving users more value for their money.

Under a new campaign dubbed PATA MORE, Safaricom has increased the amount of data customers receive on several popular bundles, raised the limit for free Pochi la Biashara transactions and reduced costs for small businesses accepting digital payments.

Among the biggest winners are mobile data users. The Ksh20 daily bundle has been increased from 150MB to 250MB, while the Ksh99 daily bundle now offers 1.5GB, up from 1GB. Customers purchasing the Ksh1,000 monthly bundle will also receive 21.5GB, more than double the previous 10GB allocation.

The changes also extend to M-PESA users and merchants. Safaricom has increased the free transaction limit under Pochi Kadogo from Ksh100 to Ksh200, allowing customers to send smaller payments at no cost.

For transactions above Ksh200, Pochi charges will be capped at Ksh50 for the next 90 days, reducing the cost of sending money through the platform.

Small businesses are also set to benefit after Safaricom raised the Lipa na M-PESA Buy Goods Kadogo threshold from Ksh200 to Ksh500, enabling more low-value digital payments while helping merchants retain more of their earnings.

"We understand that every choice our customers make matters, whether it is staying connected, sending money, running a business or supporting their families. That is why we continue to listen closely and respond with solutions that offer practical, everyday value," said Safaricom PLC CEO Peter Ndegwa.

"Through PATA MORE, we want to give our customers more from the services they rely on most, and ensure we continue to show up for them with care, simplicity and support when they need us most," he added.

Beyond mobile data and M-PESA, the company announced additional benefits for customers purchasing smartphones. Buyers of the Neon Ultra 2 handset will receive bundled data, voice services and device insurance, with the phones available through daily repayments of Ksh55.

Drivers and boda boda riders subscribed to Bundle Ya Deree/Boda will also receive packages combining connectivity with work tools, including free access to ride-hailing applications, Google Maps and Tuunza Mapato insurance.

Safaricom also announced faster internet for home users, saying Fibre customers will receive speeds of up to 2.5 times faster depending on their plan, alongside family sharing and more flexible connectivity options.

Businesses have not been left out, with Fibre for Business customers set to receive faster internet speeds and built-in cybersecurity features designed to block malicious websites, prevent risky downloads and detect suspicious online activity.

The company said customers will also be able to access the new offers through its One App, which brings together connectivity services, customer support and digital tools on a single platform.
