Safaricom PLC has launched Bundle Ya Wakulima, a new package aimed at helping farmers stay connected, protect their livelihoods and improve productivity.

Launched in Bungoma on August 14, 2026, the solution combines mobile connectivity with insurance, agricultural advisory services, farm input discounts and access to other production support under one package.

The bundle is part of PATA MORE, Safaricom’s new customer value proposition designed to give customers additional benefits from products and services they already use.

Bundle Ya Wakulima includes voice calls, data, SMS and WhatsApp access, alongside insurance options, agricultural advice, discounted farm inputs and mechanisation services. Eligible farmers can also access credit pathways.

Speaking during a farmer engagement and empowerment forum in Bungoma, Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali said farmers need more than connectivity to withstand challenges affecting the agricultural sector.

“Food security is a critical component of our lives, yet it is threatened when farmers operate without reliable information, support, protection of their livelihoods and produce," she remarked.

Ali said the new package was designed to bring several services together while making them more accessible to farmers.

“With PATA MORE, Bundle Ya Wakulima avails connectivity, protection and growth support in one affordable solution. This rehashes our commitment to farmers with access to the tools and services they need to build resilient livelihoods, increase productivity and contribute to food security," she added.

Safaricom said the package was developed using farmer data and insights, particularly recognising the continued importance of voice communication in how farmers share information and make decisions.

The launch comes as farmers continue to face risks from climate shocks, health emergencies and income disruptions, with low uptake of agricultural insurance leaving many households financially exposed.

The company said the uncertainty can discourage farmers from investing in inputs and other productivity-enhancing measures, potentially affecting yields and household incomes.
