TECNO has unveiled the POVA Curve 2 5G in Kenya, betting on the country's growing appetite for high-speed internet and power-hungry smartphones as more users shift to 5G networks for work, gaming and content creation.
The launch coincided with the introduction of TECNO's new "Own Your Move" brand platform, a campaign aimed at entrepreneurs, professionals, creators and young Kenyans building careers and businesses through their smartphones.
The new handset enters the premium mid-range segment with a recommended retail price of Ksh59,999, placing heavy emphasis on battery life, storage, connectivity and processing power rather than cosmetic upgrades.
According to the latest data from the Communications Authority of Kenya, 5G subscribers consume an average of 53.5GB of data per month, the highest among all mobile technologies, as consumers migrate from older 2G and 3G networks. Smartphones also account for 63.7 per cent of the country's 78.7 million connected mobile devices.

TECNO appears to be positioning the POVA Curve 2 5G to capitalise on that trend.
The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G processor and packs 12GB RAM alongside 256GB internal storage, targeting users who regularly multitask, edit content or play graphics-intensive games.
Its biggest selling point is an 8,000mAh battery, one of the largest available in the segment, despite the phone maintaining a relatively slim 7.42mm profile.
The smartphone also features 5G connectivity, eSIM support, dual enhanced G1 and SE1 signal chipsets designed to improve network reception, and includes three years of complimentary 256GB TECNO Cloud Storage.
TECNO Kenya Marketing Manager Mildred Agoya said the company designed the device for consumers who increasingly rely on their phones as primary work tools.
"POVA is designed for people who think for themselves and take ownership of their direction," she said.
Agoya noted that many Kenyans are using smartphones to build careers, run businesses and acquire new skills, adding that consumers no longer want technology dictated by trends alone.
"Mobile devices carry the work, clients, ideas and future plans of modern users, which is why the POVA Curve 2 5G was engineered to support long working days and real-life momentum," she added.
As part of the rollout, TECNO has also launched the "They Say... I Disagree" campaign, encouraging Kenyans to challenge conventional ideas around success, leadership and ambition by sharing personal stories, videos and photographs.
The company says the campaign will culminate in recognising selected "move-makers" whose work reflects innovation and independence.
The TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G is now available through official TECNO retail stores, authorised dealers, operator partners and online sales channels across Kenya.
