A Climax Coach bus has overturned at Kapmakaa, Chepsir, along the busy Nakuru–Kericho highway, leaving two people dead and scores of passengers injured.
The accident happened Sunday afternoon near the notorious Mau Summit stretch in Kericho County. Witnesses say the bus lost control and rolled several times before coming to rest on its side by the roadside.
Images from the scene tell the story on their own — the coach flipped over, injured passengers strewn along the tarmac, and ordinary Kenyans doing the work of first responders before help arrived.
"There has been a deadly accident at Chepsir. Travel with caution," one witness warned in a post that spread fast online.
Rescue teams from Canaan Hospital, Kipkelion, and the Kericho County government later evacuated the injured. Police have launched investigations, though the cause was not immediately established.
The Mau Summit corridor — fog-prone and steep — has swallowed too many lives over the years. Once again, the question hangs heavy over the highway: how many more?
More to follow.
