Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has proposed a new leadership structure for the Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM) Party, featuring former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo among the nominees for top positions.

Sifuna unveiled the proposed lineup on Friday, October 30, during the launch of the party's secretariat as it prepares for its National Delegates Conference (NDC).

He revealed that the proposed leadership structure would consist of a party leader and four deputy party leaders, with Mwangaza and Patrick Makau among those earmarked for the deputy positions.

Former LSK President Faith Odhiambo was also proposed for one of the deputy party leader slots, while the remaining position was set aside for a representative from the Coast region.

"We will be proposing that we structure the party so that we have a party leader and four deputies. For now, we have resolved that Kawira Mwangaza has decided to be one of the party leaders," Sifuna stated.

Under the proposed arrangement, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has been nominated for the position of party chairperson, with former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo lined up as his deputy.

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi was proposed for the Secretary General position, with Pauline Njoroge named as his potential deputy.

The party's proposed financial leadership will be headed by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, who has been nominated for the national treasurer position. Abigael Gikonyo is expected to serve as his deputy.

Other appointments include Kari Karani, who has been proposed as the Organising Secretary, while Francy Kadide has been earmarked for the Secretary of Legal Affairs position.

Sifuna also proposed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale for the position of Secretary for Political Affairs. Khalwale is also expected to seek the Kakamega gubernatorial seat on the LMM party ticket.

In the proposed special-interest leadership positions, Caroline Mayuzu was nominated to head the women's league, while Fridah Onduso was proposed to lead the youth league.

The party has also proposed Torome Nalengoyo, the immediate former Narok ODM chairperson, as its representative for minority affairs.

For the diaspora and international portfolios, Eunice Juma, one of the movement's founders, was nominated as Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, while Gilbert Shanga was proposed as Secretary for International Affairs.

Speaking at the launch, Sifuna clarified that the proposed appointments would be submitted to the National Delegates Conference for consideration and approval.

The conference is expected to provide an opportunity for delegates to endorse the proposed leadership team as the party moves towards establishing its organisational and administrative structures.
