A serious road accident has been reported at Kiboko along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway after a truck overturned onto a smaller vehicle, reportedly trapping its occupants inside.
The crash prompted an immediate rescue effort, with members of the public rushing to the scene to try to free those trapped in the damaged car.
Preliminary reports indicated that the truck overturned and landed on the smaller vehicle, leaving the occupants struggling to get out. Residents and other motorists at the scene reportedly attempted to access the wreckage as they waited for additional emergency responders to arrive.

The number of people involved in the accident had not been established by the time of reporting. It was also unclear whether the crash had resulted in any fatalities, as rescue operations were still ongoing.
The Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association of Kenya (LoDDCA) urged motorists travelling along the busy highway to exercise caution following the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remained unclear, with authorities yet to establish what caused the truck to overturn and collide with the car. Further details were expected as emergency teams continued with the rescue operation.
The accident adds to a series of serious crashes reported along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway in recent weeks, raising renewed concerns over safety on one of Kenya’s busiest transport corridors.
The Kiboko crash came just three days after another major accident involving a Dreamline bus and a trailer near Taru and Mackinnon Road. The September 23 collision left several passengers injured, with some reportedly trapped inside the Dreamline bus after its front section was extensively damaged during the impact.
Police officers and rescuers responded to the scene and helped remove passengers from the wreckage. Some of those injured were subsequently taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
The latest accident also follows a multiple-vehicle crash reported earlier in September at Kwa DC, between Salama and Sultan Hamud. That incident involved a long-distance truck and two passenger vehicles. Initial reports indicated that the truck lost control before hitting the rear of one vehicle, triggering a chain collision involving the other.
The repeated accidents have heightened calls from motorists, drivers and transport operators for measures to improve safety along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
The highway is a key transport route linking Nairobi with the Port of Mombasa and serves thousands of motorists, passenger buses and commercial trucks transporting people and goods across the country.
Transport stakeholders and road users have previously called for improvements to the highway, including expansion and dualing, as traffic volumes continue to increase.
The latest crash at Kiboko is expected to renew scrutiny of road safety along the highway, particularly at sections where heavy commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles and long-distance traffic share the same carriageway.
As emergency teams continued responding to the Kiboko accident, motorists were advised to approach the affected section carefully and follow instructions from authorities at the scene.
