Kikuyu music lovers converged at Ngong Racecourse’s Waterfront in Nairobi for the 10th edition of Kikuyu Love Sessions, which brought together vernacular music, comedy and contemporary Kenyan culture under the theme Slightly Scandalous Edition.

The event featured performances by Lil Maina, Ayrosh, Chris Kaiga, Mūringī & Friends and AFRIMA Award winners Hornsphere, while comedian Mammito hosted the gathering, guiding revellers through an evening celebrating Kikuyu music, heritage and social connections.

The concert blended traditional cultural identity with modern entertainment, offering attendees an opportunity to celebrate vernacular music while connecting with fellow fans in a lively social setting.

The 10th edition also attracted Manyatta Cider as a partner, with the brand using the platform to promote its Taste Like Home proposition, centred on familiar flavours, shared experiences and a sense of belonging.

Catherine Wahu, Manyatta Cider's Brand Manager, said cultural events provide an important avenue for bringing people together through shared experiences and traditions.

“Culture has a special way of bringing people together, creating a sense of belonging and reminding us of the things we share,” Wahu said.

“At Manyatta, we believe that some of the most meaningful moments happen when people come together over music, stories and experiences that feel familiar. Our partnership with Kikuyu Love Session reflects our Taste Like Home spirit and our commitment to celebrating the connections that make us who we are,” she added.

The Slightly Scandalous Edition encouraged guests to embrace spontaneity, meet new people and enjoy an experience rooted in the richness of vernacular music and contemporary Kenyan culture.

The performances and interactions among attendees highlighted the continued role of cultural entertainment events in creating spaces where heritage can be celebrated while appealing to younger, modern audiences.

Kikuyu Love Sessions' 10th edition brought together music, comedy and community, reflecting the enduring appeal of vernacular entertainment as part of Kenya's evolving social and cultural scene.

For Manyatta Cider, the partnership formed part of its broader effort to support local cultural experiences and create opportunities for people to connect through music, shared stories and familiar traditions.
